Private Kundalini Yoga

There are times when it is valuable to work with a teacher individually. You may want to explore a particular aspect of Kundalini Yoga, develop your understanding of a practice, or give more attention to something than is naturally possible in a group class.

One-to-one Kundalini Yoga offers dedicated time to work with your own intentions and experience, while retaining the structure and depth of a traditional Kundalini class. Whether you are new to Kundalini Yoga or have been practising for some time, individual teaching offers another way to engage with the practice and develop your understanding.

Private sessions are available in Shoreditch, London, or online.

What is a one-to-one Kundalini Yoga session?

Each session lasts 90 minutes and follows the same fundamental structure as a group Kundalini Yoga class. You will practise a Kundalini kriya, followed by a long relaxation and meditation. These elements remain central to the practice; what changes is the focus of the teaching.

Before the session, we will discuss what has brought you to it. You may have a particular intention, an aspect of Kundalini Yoga you would like to explore, or something within your existing practice that you wish to develop. Drawing on that conversation, I select the kriya and meditation, taking into account your experience and what you are looking to work with.

As in a group class, you undertake the kriya and meditation yourself. My role is to guide the session, hold the space and offer clarification or adjustments where helpful, rather than practising alongside you.

The benefits of one-to-one practice

One of the principal benefits of individual teaching is the opportunity to give sustained attention to a particular area of your practice. A weekly group class follows a kriya and meditation chosen for the class as a whole. Working individually allows the teaching to respond more directly to what you want to explore, giving you greater agency in the direction of your practice while retaining the guidance of a teacher.

There is also more opportunity to examine the individual elements of a kriya. You may wish to understand a posture more fully, explore a breathing technique or mantra, or spend time with something that has remained unclear in your practice. Having dedicated time allows us to look more closely at these elements, including how they work within the wider sequence, rather than moving through them at the pace of a group.

For some students, a private session provides a valuable foundation for establishing an independent daily practice. You may be preparing to undertake a particular kriya for 40 days, 90 days or even 1,000 days. Being guided through that kriya with a teacher first offers the opportunity to understand its structure, clarify its requirements and become familiar with the practice before committing to it independently. A single session may provide exactly the preparation you need.

For others, working together over several sessions creates an opportunity to develop their practice progressively. We can return to particular themes, build on previous work and explore how your experience and understanding are changing over time. The intention is not simply to practise more often with a teacher, but to deepen your own relationship with Kundalini Yoga.

Private sessions also offer greater flexibility in arranging when you practise, particularly if a regular weekly class does not fit your schedule.

Practical Information

Sessions are arranged individually, rather than following a fixed class timetable. In-person sessions take place at my teaching space, while online sessions offer the same individual guidance from wherever you are practising.

Private classes can also be arranged for two people, including Venus Kriyas. If you'd like to practise with a partner, we can explore what would be most appropriate.

No previous experience of Kundalini Yoga is required. Equally, if you have an established practice or a particular kriya you would like to work with, we can begin from there.

You are welcome to book individual sessions whenever you would like to work together, whether that is occasionally or more regularly. Packages are also available for those who prefer to arrange several sessions together at a reduced overall cost.

If you are considering private teaching, we can begin with a free 15-minute introductory conversation. This gives us an opportunity to discuss your experience, what you would like to work on and whether a one-to-one session would be an appropriate way forward.
